Kickball for All!

Join us on Sunday evenings in July for a fun game of inclusive kickball! Open to all abilities! Participants needing assistance will be partnered with a peer for support. Games are very casual and focused on fun, friendship, and confidence building. Participants need to attend the majority of games, but participation at all games is not required. Parents/guardians of minors are required to be present during games.

Registration for all participants is required, and will take place at the Metamora Park District office. Each registrant will need to sign a liability release and pay a small fee ($3) to take part. Girls’ Night Out

Girls’ Night Out is a once-a-month social program for girls (ages 13-22) with developmental or learning differences and their peers/mentors. The program is all about providing a fun, casual social outlet where girls can be themselves, make new friends, and try out new activities.

You can register for each Saturday program by itself, but we prefer each participant register for the entire nine month series. The cost of admission will cover a dinner of pizza and drinks, reimburse the program for material costs associated with any activity, and provides a small stipend to the Park District to assist with cleaning and facility use fees. It is important that each student that attends brings $10.00 in cash with them when they arrive.

Each Saturday will consist of a planned activity that is facilitated by a community volunteer, pizza, and a movie selected by the group. All of the participants will be connected with a mentor/peer in the same age range, but the program is a group program, so all participants and mentors work together and do activities together. Some activities that are planned: Painting, Yoga, Game Night, Talent Night, Card Making/Stamping Art, Cheerleading, Dance, “Mom’s Helper”/Babysitting Class, First Aid Class – Basics, Staying Healthy – Learning to Work With Your Doctor to Stay Healthy, Collage Art, Cooking/Cookie Decorating, and Glamour Night. Aqua Zumba

Aqua Zumba blends the Zumba philosophy with water resistance, for one pool party you shouldn't miss! There is less impact on your joints during an Aqua Zumba class so you can really let loose. Water creates natural resistance, which means every step is more challenging and helps tone your muscles.

Looking for a fun, family-friendly way to exercise both mind and body? Try geocaching ("jee-oh- cash-ing"), the outdoor adventure that's akin to a modern-day treasure hunt! Only instead of a worn map marked with an X, you use a GPS-enabled device and a set of coordinates. And instead of hunting for a buried chest, you're looking for a cache of goodies hidden in an eco-friendly site above ground. This class will introduce you to the world of geocaching and is sure to be a blast for the whole family! Please download a geocaching app to your cell phone before arriving and be ready for some light hiking on the trails….bring a water bottle and your sense of adventure! Meet at the back baseball shelter at BPP. Please register 2 days in advance.

Perfect for everybody and every body! Each Zumba class is designed to bring people together to get their sweat on. We take the "work" out of workout by mixing low-intensity and high-intensity moves for an interval-style, calorie-burning dance fitness party. Once the Latin and World rhythms take over, you will see why Zumba Fitness classes are often called exercise in disguise. Super effective! Super fun!! A total workout, combining all elements of fitness- cardio, muscle conditioning, balance and flexibility, boosted energy, and a serious dose of awesome each time you leave class.
